Easter egg hunters at Three Fingers Campground found more than candy

FOREST CITY - Easter wouldn't be complete without the hunt for candy-filled plastic Easter Eggs and in Forest City Three Fingers Campground has been the place for eager youngsters to be for the past six years.
Campground owner Loren Aukes filled over 1,000 brightly-colored eggs and hid them all over the campground Saturday. Within 10 minutes it was all over. “There were a whole lot of kids. It doesn't take them long to find them,” Aukes said with a huge smile on his face.
He said the egg hunt draws a bigger crowd every year. It is great advertisement for him and, “a lot of people appreciate it,” he said.
But finding the eggs is only half the fun. After the hunt children and their parents filled the shelter house and began sorting their eggs one-by-one, looking for an elusive “X.”
Eggs marked with one X could be redeemed for a stuffed Easter toy and eggs marked with XX could be redeemed for a $10 gift card.
Little Jayden Springer, of Forest City, was all smiles as she walked out with her arms around a plush Easter bunny. “We get a gift if we find an X,” she said proudly.
Madison Abbot, 6 of Forest City, was just as happy with her basket of candy. She said this was the second year she had come out for the hunt. “My brother had to run all the way over there to get an Easter Egg,” she said excitedly. “I left him the Easter Egg with money ‘cause he helped me.”
“We aim for a family campground and this is something for the little ones to do,” Aukes said. “Yes, it costs money, but what doesn't these days. We feel it's worth every dime of it.”
