Young Britt girl gives gift of hair

Giggling and squirming as she adjusted herself on a salon chair's booster seat at The Hayr Stack, 5-year old Mykella Hudspeth, daughter of Tina and Kerry Hudspeth, said, “I wanna get it cut!”
This was the little girl's first real haircut and her mom showed traces of tears as Pam Kline, owner of The Hayr Stack, gathered the long, blond tresses into a ponytail.
Even though Mykella doesn't understand the full concept, her ponytail, a full 12-inches long, will be donated to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides wigs to children suffering hair loss.
Mykella said she won't miss he extra hair, but for her mom it was a different story.
“I will and I won't,” Tina said. “I wanna cry but Mykella got up at 6:30 this morning asking, “is it time yet?'”
She loved her daughter's long, thick hair but it did take a long time to comb out and was hard on her shoulders.
“And I'll save $40 a month in hair conditioner and treatments,” she said.
When asked how she learned of Locks of Love Tina said her cousin has donated hair before and when Mykella heard about it she wanted to do it too.
Tina explained to her daughter that the hair would be going to someone who doesn't have hair.
“She wanted to give it to one of my daycare babies,” Tina said with a smile, “she doesn't realize it's going to some one for health purposes.”
Pam said she felt honored that the Hudspeths came to her for the haircut.
“This is special to me because I went through breast cancer and lost my hair,” she said.
Pam is a firm believer in the program and said she has several people growing their hair out for this.
Mykella's ponytail will be sent along with another one she cut recently.
