WCLT Tigers battle CWL Panthers at homecoming
W-CL-T Schools will begin celebrating homecoming week on Monday, September 29, with the grand finale taking place on Friday, October 3, when the WCLT Tigers clash with CWL at the football field in Titonka followed by a glorious victory homecoming dance at the high school.
Homecoming queen candidates are: Kayla Hoffman, Danielle Widen, Alyssa Schwartz and Sarah Wilkin. They are the daughters of Leroy and Jenny Hoffman, Dwight and Roberta Widen, Todd and Teresa Schwartz, and Timm and Bess Wilkin. King candidates are: Trevor Beenken, Adam Bengtson, Zach Meinders and Scott Phelps. They are the sons of Donovan and Karla Beenken, Brad and Sharon Bengtson, Gary and Sherill Meinders and Doug and Laura Phelps.
Dress-up days during homecoming are: Monday: twin day; Tuesday: senior citizens day; Wednesday: United Nations Day; Thursday (class distinction--salad dressing day) seniors: Caesar; juniors: Ranch; sophomores: Thousand Island; and, freshmen: salad ingredients. Friday's theme will, as always, be black and gold spirit day for all students, faculty, staff, fans and Woden, Titonka and Crystal Lake residents.
Classes decorate hallways in the high school and windows of businesses in Crystal Lake. The seniors decorate the MBT windows and the lunchroom. The juniors adorn The Cookie Jar windows and the lunchroom hallway, where their lockers are located. The sophomores are decorating Sherri's Southside Store windows and Mr. Claude's hallway. And finally, the freshman will be decorating the Crystal Lake Post Office windows and Mrs. Granger's hallway.
Coronation will take place at the Woden Elementary School during the pep rally on homecoming day, October 3. High school students and staff will be excused at 1 p.m. to travel to the pep rally, which begins at 1:15, hosted by Jan Stock and the high school cheerleaders, the junior class student council will introduce the court and homecoming king and queen at the coronation, which will take place at 1:45. Festivities end with the parade in Woden.
The game against the CWL Panthers begins at 7 p.m. followed by the high school homecoming dance from 9:30 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. Last year our attendance was fantastic, with nearly the entire student body attending! We know that this year will be a great success as well. Parents, encourage your high school student to attend this drug and alcohol-free event.
We hope that everyone will go out and support our football team, cheerleaders, band, and students at 2008 W-CL-T Homecoming!
